FOCUS

#FINDTHEARTINYOU

Our focus on cultivating a creative community. We bring people together to enjoy a night of art, inspiration, and creativity. We do this by showcasing art in unconventional settings. Our goal is to create an environment where professionals can connect and collaborate on their personal endeavors, while having a good time and sharing creative space. MBIA gives the artists publicity and a chance to sell their work in an informal way. We create a platform for interaction between artists, guests and models. This is a unique experience, especially when the art industry can be exclusive and rigid. MBIA is inclusive and candid.

What is MBIA?

MY BODY IS ART EXHIBITION SEEKS TO STRENGTHEN COMMUNITY-CULTURE. BY BRINGING TOGETHER CREATIVES TO SHARE AN EVENING DEDICATED TO SHOWCASING THE HUMAN BODY AS A PAINTERS CANVAS. FOR THE DURATION OF THE EVENT, ARTISTS DEMONSTRATE THEIR ARTISTIC EXPRESSION THROUGH PERFORMANCE ART.
THE AUDIENCE IS ABLE TO TAKE AN INTERACTIVE JOURNEY WITH THE FEATURED ARTISTS. SHARING THEIR SPACE AS THEY PROGRESS FROM A BLANK SLATE, UNTO THEIR CREATIVE PROCESS. FEATURING WORKS BY MULTIPLE ARTISTS, THE EXHIBITION OFFERS A GALVANIZING AND UNCONVENTIONALLY INTIMATE EXPERIENCE.
IN A SOCIETY THAT ENCOURAGES HIDING, OR SEXUALIZING THE IMAGE OF THE UNCLOTHED BODY: WE SEEK TO PAY HOMAGE TO IT AS A GATEWAY TO EXPRESSION. THE PHYSICAL BODY SHOULD BE REGARDED IN A DEEPER MANNER THAN JUST AS CONFIRMATION OF MORTAL EXISTENCE.
THIS SELECTION OF WORKS EXPLORES IDENTITY, REFLECTION, AND HOPES TO RAISE QUESTIONS THAT ADDRESS PHYSICAL AND ARTISTIC RESTRAINTS WE PLACE UPON OURSELVES.
WE WELCOME YOU TO OBSERVE, DIGEST, AND INTERACT WITH THE EXHIBITION, FELLOW GUESTS AND MODELS.

Testimonials

My Body is Art has been a beautiful experience for me. The event has allowed me to expand my art not just as an artist but as a creator. Being #differentfromalltherest the positive energy of the this serine show case has uniquely united myself with many super dope artist from near and far. This unity has unconsciously brought birth to elements in me that I've never seen before and this show will continue to help me in my artistic growth.

-Royal Empress, Artist; 2017

My Body is ART is a space where an artist can express him or herself not only on a typical canvas but on a human canvas.

-Naeem; Artist, 2017

My Body is Art has allowed me to become more attuned with my focus as an artist. In a space where you or what you are producing is the main focus, often times that thought is very overwhelming to me. Although very different, every artist connected in unison. The vibe, the environment, the food, the people allowed for my creativity to easily flow through and produce powerful work.

-Artist, Candi Rose; 2017
